Picnic Grove is known to be one of the most visited areas in Tagaytay. Aside from breathing in the cool breeze of Tagaytay, horseback riding, having a picnic and kite flying, the most popular activity is the cable car ride and zipline in Tagaytay adventure.

Zip lining involves gliding along a suspended steel cable by use of a pulley and climbing harness. The Tagaytay zip line is approximately 250 meters long and cuts across a portion of the Tagaytay Ridge with lush green vegetations below and the shimmering Taal Volcano and Taal Lake as a backdrop. Passengers will get to experience the exhilarating ride that goes up to 60 kilometers per hour at 300 feet off the ground between two high places along the edge of the Picnic Grove.

There are two positions to choose from as you zip line through the air: one is the prone position which gives you a view of the scenery superman-style or the sitting position that leaves you comfortably seated on your harness. The ride duration takes about 20-30 seconds for a one-way trip. Feel the cold air rush onto your face as you try your best to pose brilliantly for a picture.

The zip line system uses a harness that can carry up to 2 tons, which is as heavy as seven sumo wrestlers. To make your stop a smooth finish, two orange-colored tires serve as dampers to soften the landing on the platform. All guides are thoroughly trained in every aspect so feel confident that you’re in good hands. It’s the management’s top priority to take care of the well being of each passenger of the ride. Across the same valley of the daredevils lies the Tagaytay Cable Car Ride. The fear factor is extreme experience during the 5-minute cable car ride as passengers will be put inside a bird-cage like exterior as the ride moves in a slow and steady pace. The good thing about it is that a family or a group of friends of up to 8 adults can experience the cable car ride together as they marvel at the Taal landscape.

The Tagaytay Zip line and Cable car is a separate company not under the management of the Tagaytay Picnic Grove. Weekday rates are 200 pesos per person for a one-way ticket and 300 pesos per person for roundtrip. Weekend and holiday rates on the other hand are at 300 pesos per person for one-way while it is at 400 pesos per person for a roundtrip. The best time to go there is during weekdays especially if you’re visiting the area in a big group. Souvenir photos are now inclusive of the zip line and cable car ride fee.
